Thranduil | Research Notes
This portrait of Thranduil, the Elvenking of Mirkwood from The Hobbit, was a personal commission exploring strength, nobility and the ancient bond between elves and the natural world. Through the intricate detailing of costume and expression, I aimed to capture his ethereal presence - poised, regal and formidable. The nature infused crown, inspired by woodland forms, hints at the deep-rooted connection the Elves of Middle earth share with their forested realm.
Thranduil's steady gaze and commanding stance were key in portraying a ruler shaped by centuries of wisdom, loss and resilience - a force equally rooted in beauty and quiet power.

"Thranduil". A2 on paper, painted in acrylics. 2018.
