The Modern Prometheus
"The Modern Prometheus", acrylic on canvas, 24" x 18".
2019
London
Inspired by themes from science fiction and mythology, this piece explores the merging of human identity with machine. Referencing Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (subtitled The Modern Prometheus), it poses timeless questions: What makes us human? Where are we going?
The mechanical arm, reaching towards a glowing unknown, symbolises both progress and loss - a vessel for ascension, or a warning of disconnection. As we increasingly infuse technology with the body, the painting reflects on what may be left behind: memory, mortality and the essence of our humanity.
